The Project

OAR was the first company to introduce 3D laser scanning to one of the nation’s largest waste management and recycling providers, changing how the company documents and modernizes its Material Recovery Facilities. Since then, OAR has completed 40+ retrofit projects for the account, delivering high-precision as-builts that streamline upgrades and eliminate costly surprises.

The Challenge

Decades-old MRFs. Outdated drawings. No margin for retrofit surprises.

Many of the company’s MRFs have been in operation for decades, relying on outdated 2D drawings and incomplete records that made retrofits difficult to plan and execute. Suppliers and contractors needed accurate 3D models to efficiently integrate new automation and equipment into facilities that no longer matched their original documentation.
