The Project Need

After installation onsite, the client needed a record of floor slopes within approximately 270 prefabricated bathroom pods. The measured information allowed the client team to review drainage toward the floor drains against its own project requirements.

Confirm floor slope across approximately 270 installed bathroom pods.

The hospital was still under construction, and the review needed to cover a large number of pod locations efficiently. The deliverable had to show actual elevation changes clearly while keeping every result tied to its location on the project floor plans.

Approximately 270 pod locations

OAR performed 3D Laser Scanning of floor conditions within approximately 270 bathroom pod locations during active hospital construction.

Floor Elevation Visualization

Cyclone 3DR elevation color maps

OAR processed the captured point-cloud data in Cyclone 3DR and created color maps based on point elevation. The visualization showed how floor elevation changed across each reviewed pod location.

Report Preparation

Floor-plan-based batched reports

OAR placed screenshots of the color-mapped results into reports that identified each pod location on the floor plans. Reports were produced in batches, with a typical scan-to-report cadence of approximately half a week or less.

A repeatable visual record of floor conditions at scale.

OAR provided measured floor information that the manufacturer could use to review drainage conditions with the contractor and owner representatives. The workflow gave the client a consistent visual record across a large number of installation locations, while the client retained authority over tolerances and pass or fail decisions.

I am glad I did: the integrations engineer, GC, subs, and equipment manufacturers (most of whom are overseas) are delighted to have the ability to step into the space and confirm fit and plan my construction intelligently based on onsite conditions.
Most importantly - with Jon and Ryan this business goes above and beyond. I had concerns my design/construction group wouldn’t use what OAR provided but Ryan and Jon took the time after they delivered the point cloud and drawings to show my team how to use this tool to make sure it saves my team’s time and by extension: my money in construction. We are making last minute design changes now that if not identified would’ve cost 5 figures $.
